2011 Color of the Year

Each year at Amore Fiori, we wait in anticipation as Pantone chooses the color of the year. I was delighted to see the “Color of the Year” for 2011 is a vibrant, energetic  pink – honeysuckle.

This dynamic deep pink color with reddish undertones is encouraging and uplifting.  “In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits.  Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Not only do I love honeysuckle, but  we now have many beautiful flower options incorporating this lovely color into wedding themes this upcoming season.  With Turquoise being the color of the year for 2010, florists had a real challenge, as there are not many flowers in that blueish-greensish tint.  Not this year–many flower varieties are available in this pink tone.  If you love the color too and want to incorporate it into your wedding, get started with some inspiration from our favorite picks of flower types  in honeysuckle below.

Beautiful flower options in "Honeysuckle"

  • Garden roses (available all year)
  • Peonies (available late spring through early summer)
  • Ranunculas (available all year)
  • Dahlias (available early spring through early fall)
  • Tulips (available winter through late spring)

Honeysuckle pairs well with tangerines and softer pinks for a garden or vintage look and can also pair with a metallic grey for a modern, urban, sleek feel.  There are countless other combinations on which to base this lovely color!
